Wayson Poon is sharing his thoughts about the creation of the performance Moving a memory. The piece will be presented in Aarhus September 9th and 10th! Secure your tickets here: https://billetto.dk/e/moving-a-memory-billetter-844102

“The journey of creating this piece, in collaboration with Jon R. Skulberg, began before the pandemic. Despite the challenges posed by lockdown and social distancing, we remained our dedication to rehearse, premiere and tour. In 2021, “Moving a memory” premiered at the PASSAGE Festival in Helsingør, Denmark and then toured in Copenhagen and the New Vision Arts Festival in Hong Kong. The piece was nominated for “Best Performance of the Year” by Copenhagen Culture magazine. As the world is gradually returning to its normalcy, we are immensely excited to re-run this work in September.

As I revisit the process of creating this piece, I carefully review my notes and recordings. “Moving a memory” is a powerful creation that not only evokes our memories mentally and physically, but also brings us resilience in difficult times. This collaborative endeavour involves sharing of culture, spirit and insights of the team with different backgrounds, where we come together in a breathing space to connect and reclaim fragments of memories. We look forward to sharing the air and gravity, space and time with the audience in the gymnastics hall. Let’s experience together!”
